Crown appoints new Regional Marketing Director EMEA and Group Head of Communications

We are very pleased to announce that Mark Hopkins has joined Crown as Regional Marketing Director – EMEA, while Matt Abbott has been appointed as Group Head of Communications.
We are very pleased to announce that Mark Hopkins has joined Crown as Regional Marketing Director – EMEA, while Matt Abbott has been appointed as Group Head of Communications.

Both will be based in the UK at our Enfield office. Mark will lead marketing for the EMEA region, working across the markets to develop and execute growth focused marketing activity.

Matt will be leading our Group communications team, overseeing the creation, publication and distribution of content to our vast external stakeholder base, while working closely with HR and other business stakeholders to lead on internal communications across the group.

Mark has over 20-years marketing experience across a range of B2C and B2B brands working across a wide range of channels including digital, TV, radio, press, experiential and outdoor - to name a few. 

Throughout his career he has held a range of senior level marketing roles at Kia, Volkswagen and has global marketing experience with Shell. His wider brand marketing experience includes roles at Michelin, Continental and WD-40. His core focus with these organisations has often centred around digital transformation, brand re-positioning plus the launch of new brands, products and digital innovations to drive revenue and share growth.

His experience will help to drive our brands forward and focus on achieving growth across the EMEA regions.

Matt Abbott, Group Head of Communications


Matt has more than ten years of experience in journalism and corporate communications. He joins Crown from a PR agency that specialised in working on the creation of compelling content and focused media relations with fast-growing renewable energy businesses. Prior to that, he led the PR & communications function at ExCeL London, one of Europe’s leading exhibition venues, having spent five years at global ports and logistics business DP World, where he led on UK marcomms activity to help significantly grow one of the country’s largest privately funded infrastructure projects. He is a fully qualified journalist and spent several years working on local and regional newspapers in Essex.

His experience will help to sharpen and amplify Crown’s storytelling, thought-leadership and the overall communication of the Group’s value proposition to a diverse audience – enhancing brand reputation.
