Crown Fine Art successfully moves the Vermeer masterpiece Girl with a Pearl Earring
The Mauritshuis in The Hague (the Netherlands) houses a collection of world-famous paintings by Dutch and Flemish masters from the Golden Age. The collection contains works by Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn and Jan Steen.
The museum has spent the last two years renovating its magnificent building. During this time, its renowned collection of important artworks traveled across the world. Among them was one of the most iconic works of art in the Netherlands, Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring.
The masterpiece, which uses a pearl earring as a focal point, has been a part of the collection in the Mauritshuis gallery since 1902, and now she returns home!
Over the last two years, Crown Fine Art has taken care of packing, crating and shipping the traveling exhibition. Crown's team of experts transported all the works to several international locations and most recently to the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag before moving them back to Mauritshuis.
The team has now collected all the works of art and brought them back to their newly-renovated home.
On June 19, the Mauritshuis hung Girl with a Pearl Earring back on the wall, assisted by Crown Fine Art's specialist care and expertise.
The museum will be open to the public as of the evening of June 27.
